The last couple of weeks have been difficult for every student at UR. As assignments and projects keep piling up, it is easy to give in to the feeling of anxiety. The best way to pull through is to take a few moments in between work each day to take care of our minds and our bodies.

1. Practice Meditation

No matter how busy our schedule may look like, we all have at least 10 minutes to spare each day to practice some meditation. You don’t need any equipment or trendy yoga pants! Just put on your favorite pajamas and sit on your twin xl bed while following a guided meditation on youtube.

I would recommend checking out Lavendaire’s Youtube channel, where you can not only find guided meditation videos, but also other well-being and self-care videos.

2. Walk around Westhampton Lake

Studies show that exercise is key for managing stress and anxiety. You don’t need a full workout outfit or to wake up at 6:00am sharp. The only thing you need is to spare 30 minutes in-between classes to just walk around campus, preferably around the beautiful Westhampton Lake.

Taking a break won’t make you waste valuable time that you should have spent studying for that midterm, instead, it will help increase productivity so you can get back to work with a new surge of energy!

3. Don’t forget about Social Interaction!

Even though it may be tempting to pick up food and bring it to your dorm room only to lock yourself up for the whole day and do work, it is important to take some time off and unwind.

Ask your best friend if she wants to grab lunch at dhall, share a pizza from the Cellar with friends! Eating with other people will give you the chance to relax for a few minutes and make sure you don’t overwork yourself

These are a few ideas that can help you cope with stress during these difficult times. Always make sure to take time to take care of your mental health each day!
