Taking a minute to breath and ground yourself is crucial during this last month of the semester. Whether you have 1 minute or 55 minutes, there is always time to take a deep breath and remember you are doing your best. Grab your yoga mat, a pillow, or whatever makes you comfortable and get ready to relax!
I try to take a mindful minute every morning when I wake up. I do some deep breathing and set one positive goal for myself for the day. For deep breathing to calm your body, try this rotation:
1) Close your eyes
2) Inhale through your nose for four seconds
3) Hold your breath for seven seconds
4) Exhale for eight seconds
5) Repeat as many times as you would like
For those who need relaxation before bed, Yoga with Adriene has created bedtime yoga that relaxes your body and prepares you for a good night’s rest. Set aside some time for yourself to wind down from a stressful day and try and gain some relaxation. My two favorites are a 7-minute sequence and a 20-minute sequence. Whichever you choose, they are sure to lower stress and make your eyes heavy. Take a deep breath and give yourself some love.
